Go to the Ybor section of Tampa. Great walking area with restaurants, bars and shops. You can take the free streetcars and hop on and hop off to see parts of Tampa.

Florida Aquarium is right at the port along with the WWII American Victory Ship.

if looking to just chill for an afternoon, downtown Riverwalk by Curtis Hixon Park and South a little to Armature Works, renovated streetcar repair building now housing quick-serve restaurants... plenty of meandering.

the Tampa zoo is also excellent I highly recommend.
