Cartagena, Spain overview

A major seaport and naval base, it has a fine natural harbor, protected by forts. It was founded in 225 B.C. and soon became a flourishing port: the chief Carthaginian base in Spain. The medieval Castillo de la Concepcion, whose ruins are surrounded by fine gardens, commands a splendid view of the city and harbor. No traces of the ancient city remain.

We had a great time in Cartegena. The cruise ship dicks right in town so it’s an easy walk to the action. The amphitheater was fantastic and the shopping was very good. We would love to visit again.

Cartagena, Spain was totally different from Cartagena, Columbia. This was so different from Malaga too. We took a Tapas tour through the city. This was basically going from one eatery to the next sampling the Tapas and drinking the local fare. This is a great tour, but come hungry. You’ll eat a lot and drink a lot. Folks were happier as we progressed from place to place😱. Great way to see the city. Lots of beautiful architecture filled with narrow streets and alley ways. The city streets are polished stone or marble. Wow! That was cool! We finished the tour with a kicked up coffee that was translated, coffee for the Spine or back. After drinking one you no longer worry about your sore back.😀. I had the local beer. Very good and very different from what I’m use to. The wife had Sangria which was very good as well. Highly recommend this tour.
