Founded in 1852, Tiptonville was named after William Tipton, early settler in this northwestern corner of the state. Lake County drew its name from Reelfoot Lake, which is now a State Park, and is one of the greatest hunting and fishing preserves in the nation. The park encompasses 25,000 acres and harbors almost every kind of shore and wading bird, as well as the golden and American bald eagles.

STIKINE ICECAP (SCENIC GLACIER VIEWING), ALASKA

The Stikine Icecap is a large icefield straddled on the Alaska¿British Columbia boundary in the Alaska Panhandle region. It lies in the Boundary Ranges of the Coast Mountains. Within the United States, most of it is under the administration of the Tongass National Forest and is part of MENthe Stikine-LeConte Wilderness within the national forest.
