Also a great town.Did the included 4.5 hour walking tour. Tried their smoky beer, not a fan.

Most beautiful town during all trip in Germany and only spend 3 hours totally. Bused from Passau.

The tour guide, May, was the best guide we have ever had. She was very bubbly and told great stories and jokes which made the tour more entertaining. Found out she is almost totally deaf and was sent to Japan to learn how to speak better. She is fluent in German and Japanese including sign languages for both. She had just started learning English a year ago but her English was the best of any of the German tour guides. She was just amazing.

The five stars go to Horst, our guide. He does an exemplary job explaining why Bamberg is really an incredible place. The only site a pope is buried north of the Alps. The horseman in the cathedral, the incredible city buidling, the story of nativity scenes. Bravo. Now, this is colored by the fact that I was able to get into the cathedral the last time I was there and this time I wasn't. There was a huge reception for the retiring archbishop. However, Horst stuck with us and took us all around and then downtown to the market.

Bamberg itself was closed that weekend. Viking organized an alternate excursion to Schloss Seehof, which was a good alternative.

Walking tour. And there was a LOT of walking. Then we were ‘treated’ to a buffet lunch. Mediocre at best.

The cities are starting to run together and look the same.

It was pouring on the day of our tour and hard to enjoy anything. No desire to try the smoke beer.
