I was able to keep same cabin. I did need to meet in a lounge around 10 am, follow a small group out thru customs and around to embark again without stopping. We were given an envelope the last evening with a new cruise card in it and a paper that said passenger in-transit. Very simple process and the day was totally relaxing as a result. (This was in LA.)

We have taken several back to backs and they all proceeded in the same way as described above. They were always seemless. We always kept the same cabin. We are booked on another in Aug. 2017.
The nice part is that if you chose to spend the day in port, your paperwork (I.e. New cruise card and in-transit card) allows you to board quickly when you return without having to checkin again.
Enjoyed the ship. I was first person to go back on ship and I ran all over, had my choice of any chair I wanted, all fresh food lol. There were only 2 dozen people on board (besides crew) for around 2 hrs
Nice. Often wondered how the back to back worked.
It was really interesting to see the ship in tip top shape ready for guests...deck chairs all lined up...lol like a sneak preview of a big party about to happen

Sounds like that was your favorite part.
Did you take advantage of the day to do something in LA or did you just enjoy the day aboard the ship?
