Cruise tips
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
Really liked ft Lauderdale area. Clean and close to southwest flights and cruise ship terminals.
We had fun at turtle park and swimming with stingrays. Only downside was time in port which was under 6 hours causing a huge line of people trying to get back on ship. Our bus driver Mel was great! The boatride to the stingrays is about 35 minutes each way but was really worth it! Last time we were in Caymen the ship was in port for 8 hours and no lines to get on tender.
Was disappointed in this port but jamaica is poorer than expected. It pays a substantial amount of its GDP just to The IMF bank in debt service. And although the country is rich in the mineral bauxite used in aluminum, the government only collects 28 cents per tons mined and exported by companies. The coastlines looked beautiful. Our excursion took most of day so not much time to explore. Carnival seems to be cramming port times. The Dunns waterfall was gorgeous but full of people.
