Review summary

Our first cruise on Royal Cariibean. We had been on Carnival ten times and wanted to try something new. Highly recommend it! The staff was wonderful, the food unbelieveable and for those of you with kids....ours didn't want to leave (ages 3 and 7). They actually cried getting off the ship when it was time to go home. There were plenty of diverse activities for adults and kids, together as a family or separate when we needed time to unwind. The atmosphere seemed far less hectic than on other ships, maybe it was because this was our first RC criuse or maybe because it was European and not Caribbean. Either way, it was one of the best vacations we have ever taken.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Superb wait staff. The midnight gala buffet was to die for! The food also seemed to be a lttile better quality than on our previous cruises.

Children's Programs

The program was great! The kids had a fun and so did the parents. The program was open during the days for drop in any time and evenings until 10PM. You could also sign your kids up for dinner if you wanted to have a relaxing dinner for two. Babysitting was available from 10 Pm to 1 am if needed. This is really what madeour cruise so enjoyable knowing that the kids were having fun, so we could relax!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of our staff was superb. They had our usual drinks waiting for us and by the end of the cruise could predict waht we we eat. We also had a problemn resolved by the head of guest relations thatinvolved our traveling companions. My elderly mother took a small fall in the dining area and had to been seen in the medical clinic. The guest relations officer worked with the safety officer and doctors to resolve a billing situation.

Ship Quality

Just about the right size. The decor was tasteful, not gaudy. The Royal promenade was like being on a street full of shops and cafes. Easy to navigate once we got used to the layout.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had 4 to our cabin so it was pretty tight. Our steward was very helpful in arranging all the beddings to work with us and maximize the space. Try to stay off the lower decks. We learned that ion a previous cruise but our only option this time was deck 2 way forward and we definitely felt the swaying more.

Ports of call

Valletta, Malta

We did the historic valetta and medina tour. This was the best of all the ports. Beautiful cities and architecture and full of history lessons as well.
Don't Miss: Medina and it's chapel. The church at Valetta.
