Yes, this is considered 3rd party booking for excursions.Although booking through the cruise lines directly has added benefits such as a guarantee to get back on the ship if something goes wrong (think tour bus breaks down on the way back to port), there are often benefits to booking separately (such as cost and smaller groups). Just keep in mind that you have to make your own arrangements to meet up shore-side and make sure you have enough time cushion to get back before the deadline and the means to make arrangements if things fail.
