Review summary

Having sailed on larger ships before, we were somewhat apprehensive about a smaller, older ship. We needn’t have been. From the minute we arrived at the cruise terminal to the minute we got off the ship, our experience of Vision was amazing. The ship is older than most but unless you really scrutinised it, this was not evident. It was immaculately clean and tidy and had the most wonderful vibe. The staff in all areas were wonderful. On some ships I’ve noticed they get nicer towards the end when the prospect of a tip is imminent. On Vision, the service was the same right from the start. We were made to feel like royalty and couldn’t fault any crew member. The entertainment was excellent and varied and we loved planning our evenings. Often there was too much choice. The food in the Windjammer was excellent- hot and plenty of variety. Even on sea days it never felt crowded and we always managed to get a table. The Park cafe was lovely with sandwiches, pizza, nachos etc. The main dining room was a slight let down but only because we had very slow service a couple of nights. Hardly worth mentioning really as we were on holiday so what’s the rush? The itinerary was brilliant and the weather glorious. We had the drinks package and once staff realised, we found ourselves being served began we had even asked. This was a perfect cruise that far outweighed our expectations. Ignore the reviews that do nothing but moan. Clearly their expectations are unrealistic. It was superb from start to finish and believe me, I’m quite hard to please.

We sailed on Vision of the Seas in February and loved it. The crew was great and the service was top notch!

Bigger is not always better. I prefer a more traditional type of cruise not a floating theme park / mall

I prefer the older, smaller ships. Seems as though they are better quality and were designed with more emphasis on ocean views rather than on gimmicks.
