Review summary

3/27/2016 Rhine Rhapsody. 10 days from Basel Switzerland to Paris, France. A short wonderful breathtaking cruise from Basel, Switzerland to Germany towns, to Luxembourg and ending in Paris, France. This cruise is available only a couple of times at the start of the year. Ours is the first trip for 2016 for Viking Vidar. Some passengers canceled their trip because of last week's Brussels terrorist bombing, Only 60 passengers pushed thru and we all have a fabulous trip with almost a ratio of one crew to one passenger. We were pampered, spoiled and have a wonderful time. For a New Yorker, I find Switzerland and Paris expensive, but what the heck, we were on vacation.

Despite small space, it is well-thought of and spacious, enough hangers and closets and shelf space for all stuff, big flat screen tv, crisp linen and soft pillows in comfortable bed. Plenty of luggage storage under the bed. Bathroom has heated floors , good water pressure . I prefer the previous bathroom products, L'Occitane and not their new Viking trademark of Freyja products. There's always two big bottle of clean water in the room. Individual temperature control and safe and hair dryer too.

Ship tip

Highlights of the Alps , an optional tour in Basel, Switzerland is somewhat overrated and very expensive. No need to pay the package drink, there's plenty of free wine, and beers during meal times, and no corkage fee when you bring it to the dining room. Wines and beer are dirt cheap in Europe.
