This cruise was a bit different even for Viking as the Rhine was closed to traffic due to low water levels midway through our cruise. But Viking had the wherewithal to create an alternate plan which enabled us to complete our voyage with only a loss of half day when they had to bus us from Strasbourg to Rudesheim. My hats off to Viking for coming up with a plan in a half day's time and executing it flawlessly.

Very easy as Viking gave us plenty of timely information which made our arrival easy. Our room was ready and so was lunch even though we arrived before the suggested time.

In spite of COVID and some restrictions for lunch and dinner (no buffet offered), the food selection was excellent and the quality and presentation were second to none. Thoroughly enjoyed the service as I felt I was "special" every time I stepped out of my stateroom.
Onboard Activities

A river longship does not have climbing walls, gyms, pools, etc that a typical ocean liner might have. But it did have a track for walking, lots of comfortable chairs and chaise lounges to enjoy.

You will not find too many service staff that can match Viking. What was striking was how well trained they are, how they are efficient but careful with how they service you with the safety protocols in place

I have never been on a cruise, hotel, public facility where the public restrooms are maintained on an hourly basis. Yes, you read that right.
Cabin / Stateroom

Cleanliness was excellent, service was outstanding. Comfort was a bit constrained given the square footage but you need to accept this as part of a river cruise experience
Ship tip
Weather is a driver as your activities are basically outdoors. We had 2 days of rain which given the time of year was "acceptable". Also, ensure that the water levels of the Rhine will not impact the ability of the ship to go from "A" to "B".
