This was the greatest cruise of our lifetime. We felt fully immersed in the experience. I can’t recommend Viking enough. It is worth the cost!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Viking met us at the airport and escorted us from baggage claim all the way to the dining hall on the ship. We had access to our room by 10:00am. It was the best!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was top notch. The executive chef was amazing. The food was clean and made to suit each port of call. German night was our favorite. It was common for the executive chef to walk through the halls to ask for more ways to customize each dish for guests.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Viking doesn’t have an abundance of activities, but what they have done is designed all activities to provide insight into ports of call. Guest lectures, regional music, etc. are all designed to give you inside into the places you will visit.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The visiting musicians were fantastic. The ship musicians are limited and only playing a few hours each day. This is an area Viking could improve upon.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
In my 19 cruises, this was by far the greatest staff. The officers were always easy to find and they spent time with guest. We enjoyed casual conversation with the captain and Wolfgang, our cruise manager, ate breakfast with us at our table. What a great individual! We can hardly wait to this again!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The absolutely best cleaned facilities.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The room was very spacious and well designed. Bathroom floors are heated! Central heating and air has a room controlled thermostat for comfort. The hotel staff cleaned our room multiple times a day. We had the smallest shower of any cruise we have taken, but to be fair, we had the cheapest room on the ship.
Ship tip
Viking is all about experience the ports of call. Do all of it! We went to every included walking tour, tried the food in every port, and made a point to speak to locals and experience it all. If you are in to culture and the arts, this is the cruise for you. If you are into parties, drinking, etc., this might not be your style.
A fantastic small town. Don’t miss out on seeing lesser known Trinity chapel. The paintings alone are worth a peek. You will find several small cafes and bistros in town for a great taste of Germany. I highly recommend!
They carried our luggage from the room to the charter bus. They even loaded it for us. The cruise manager personally escorted us to the coach. Upon arrival at the airport, we were met by a Viking representative who personally walked each of through check in and all the way to the gate. It was very customized, personal, and easy!
We go in November for the Christmas Markets cruise - can’t wait! Have never been to Germany before. It’s on my bucket list. Will be spending a few days in Amsterdam before the trip.
