Review summary

We found we like ocean cruising better than river cruising for several reasons: more dining options at varied times on an ocean cruise (river cruise had set dining times and no other options). More entertainment and more quality entertainment on ocean cruise. If you are big into history and like seeing churches and cathedrals on every excursion, this would be a great cruise....seeing the same type things over and over got old to me.

Food and Dining

Food was good and service was excellent. On ocean cruises you can dine most any time. On the river cruise dining was at a set time and no specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

Not really many onboard activities. Many more activities and options on an ocean cruise.

Entertainment

We saw one musician one night and he was very entertaining. Ship pianist was ok but we did not spend time listening.

No kids onboard.

Everyone was top notch.

Well-maintained and clean. We enjoyed sitting on the front of the top deck so we could see where we were going.

Cabin / Stateroom

Standard veranda room. Was a bit on the small side. Bathroom also was small. Hard to turn around in the shower.

Ship tip

We were on the Herje (sister ship) because of scheduling conflict. This is a nice cruise if you want to see the countryside along the Rhine and are okay with seeing cathedrals and churches at every stop.
