Review summary

I went with a bunch of friends, a couple of whom were celebrating 40th Birthdays. I am glad I had this experience, because I was thinking of taking my family on a cruise and after this experience, I have had a change of mind.

Embarkation

The process was long and exhausting.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
For my first time cruising, I was expecting a much more lavish experience. Food was okay, fine dining was lackluster at best. Nothing stood out compared to resort experiences we have had. There were many places on the ship where no one was around to take our drink orders. We ordered room services and it took almost 90 minutes for us to get our food. Restaurants which advertised being open 24 hours were actually closed after 2:00 p.m. which was disappointing. Lots of false information given and felt like there was a lack of communication. Overall, now that I have had the experience with Princess, I would not recommend this cruise and would rather go to an all inclusive resort.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
the hot tub was colder than the pool. Sat around in the pool and waited for a waiter to come. There were a few of us and one of us had to get out to go find someone.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The comedy shows were okay.. Nothing to write home about. The DJ and music at the club was fun. The Broadway Dance show was fantastic.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Waiters in the dining did the best they could considering how busy they were. Our food took forever to get to us and my drinks were ordered several times and I didn't get it until my dessert came on a couple of the nights. We got different information from different staff about the same topic. Most staff would say they were not sure, which did not instill a lot of confidence in your guests. Room Stewards (Rainer was ours) were the best.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship as I understood it was an older ship. It was mentioned by staff that this was one of Princesses nicer ships, which I found hard to believe.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The beds were great. Lighting was lacking and it would be the only thing I would comment on, otherwise, we were perfectly content.

i definitely suggest trying an itinerary with port of calls instead of just a repositioning cruise. the crowd and the atmosphere tend to be different. but like people above said, cruising isn’t for everyone.

Some people love it and others hate it. It’s apparently very lack and white. One or the other. Maybe try a cruise with more ports or a different cruise line. Sorry you had a bad experience.

Sounds like cruising isn’t for you. Most love it, but it’s not for everyone.
