Review summary

Overall, we enjoyed the experience. It was, as mentioned above, a different level of service, food and flexibility compared to more traditional Silversea cruises. With that said, if you go knowing ahead of time what to expect, you'll have a great time. I thought the guides were fantastic - both onboard and onshore. The educational programs were excellent. NOTE: There are a LOT of physically challenging activities onshore (climbing over rocks, wet landings, snorkeling, hiking, etc.), so I think it's important that you're in decent physical condition if you want to really enjoy all that this expedition has to offer.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Because this is an Expedition cruise, you have to recalibrate your expectations from what you would normally experience on a more traditional Silversea cruise. The food is good, but because the Ecuadorian government controls what the ship can provision, the selections are limited. However, the food is expertly prepared.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
This is a smaller Expedition ship, so no rock wall or pool. But the onboard lectures were excellent.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Again, this is an Expedition cruise, so the service, while fine, was no where near the level of service we're use to on other Silversea cruises. We had to ask for things two or three times before they were addressed. Not a big deal, just not what we were expecting based on prior experiences. With that said, the entire crew was very friendly and tried to help once they were engaged.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship is beautiful! The layout is wonderful and the crew keeps the ship very clean. Common areas are very spacious and well appointed. Just a lovely ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
It was nice, clean and efficient. We had an "interior" balcony which I thought was very clever and provided more cabin space than an exterior balcony. The bathroom needs better ventilation. Water filtration faucet in the bathroom was very convenient. Bed was comfortable and the sheets/pillows were great.

Ship tip

Reset your expectation! This is NOT a typical Silversea cruise. The food, wine and service are great for an Expedition cruise, but the lack of flexibility and service are not what you might expect if you're used to cruising Silversea on more traditional routes.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Well organized. I wasn't thrilled that we had to leave the ship so early only to be told that we had to walk around the town for 30 - 45 minutes.
