Review summary

Our 30th wedding anniversary cruise had been 18 months in the planning, and it was well worth the wait!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The schedule for boarding seemed slower than normal, with about an hour wait in the terminal. Once onboard, however, we were able to access our room immediately and unpack our carry-on bags.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We mainly used the MDR for dinner, and the Horizon for breakfast and lunch. The standard of food again was excellent!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed MUTS, although we felt the range of movies was somewhat limited; the art auctions were interesting and well supported, with the art team being very knowledgeable and their lectures informative; the enrichment lectures were also varied and interesting; and we made daily use of the gym and really enjoyed the facilities.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We didn’t attend any of the theatre performances, but the piano shows in the Piazza were excellent. Of particular note was the jazz show in the Piazza.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our waiters in the MDR, Lohita and Denchai, were excellent, as was our stateroom steward, Kenneth.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Sea Princess is a lovely older ship, with a good layout and design. Having the full promenade deck makes this ship special in these days of larger ships, and the smaller size makes it seem more friendly and homely. The ship is always well-maintained and kept clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were very pleased with our choice of cabin. We made ample use of the balcony. The rear view was a little obstructed by a cleaning apparatus which is permanently adjacent to the balcony, but that was a very minor inconvenience. The room was spotlessly clean and there was plenty of storage space and lots of clothes hangers.

Ports of call

Penang (Pulau Pinang), Malaysia

5 out of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed the visit to Penang. We did the Princess excursion to the Royal Selangor Pewter, the Entropia Butterfly farm, and the Spice Garden. It was an excellent tour.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Being a back-to-back cruise, we didn’t disembark in Singapore, although we enjoyed spending the day in the city.
