This was our 5th Princess cruise, we do a family vacation every year and have been on this or the sister boats a lot since we pick the same month to cruise. Things are getting worse every year, looks like it is time to find a new family tradition. Also the airfare through Princess is now so limited you get the worst flights for the highest price. Make your own airfare reservations.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Since we are American, and a large portion of the passengers come from England, the food was awful. We don't eat the same way, but also they are cutting back, some days breakfast runs out of yogurt, or there is nothing but fish and potatoes in the buffet at dinner. I ate a good lunch on shore during the day since I knew dinner would be lousy. The pizza bar has always had lousy pizza, nothing that is worth going for, but at least you can get burgers/hot dogs/chicken at lunch by the pool.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Pretty bad entertainment. Performers in the lounge or stage were not worth going, half the audience would leave after the first 15 minutes. Movies under the stars cancelled many nights. Had to beg for a blanket if you did stay to watch the movie. Most nights they only put out a few deck chairs and you had to watch the movie sitting in the bar stools. And guess what? They were showing the SAME movies we saw on the boat the year before!
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
A lot of the staff didn't understand english, hard to communicate with them. THey woudln't come over and ask if you wanted drinks for dinner in the buffet, most times we had to serve ourselves at the bar. Very inexperienced staff.
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
The boat is getting old and a lot of things break. Not well maintained. Public restrooms were dirty/smelly, so I only used our private bathroom. There is such a limited amount of deck chairs that we always book a balcony cabin so that we have somewhere to sit outside during the day when we are at sea. A LOT of smoking allowed all over the boat, so it stinks on the entire left side of the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Rooms were clean, but you had to beg for ice. And only shampoo in the room now, no conditioner. Bring you own supplies! Room stewards are nice, but never around when you need a new beach towel. Learn to swipe the supplies from the carts in the hall when you find one.
Pros: Get to stop at a lot of islands, not at sea much
Cons: Princess is getting cheap, cutting on everything, not a good value for the $
