Regatta

10 Night Legends To Lagoons (Papeete Roundtrip)

Sail date: March 05, 2020

Ship: Regatta

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

This was a very nice older ship. Not much to do and very little shopping available. Bring whatever you need because you won't find it on this ship. They kept it very clean. Buffet was excellent. Ports were beautiful. Water was very warm. Stays around 85 degrees all year round according to a local. People on the islands were nice. Most speak English. If you go to a market, there usually will be an English interpreter around somewhere.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Oceania booked us on a late flight, so we got to the ship at 9:30 pm. No lines.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was good, but I thought by the reviews I had read before going, it would be better. As most of the people on the ship I had met would agree, the Buffet is better than the Dining Room. You can get a lot of the items served in the Dining Room on the Buffet. There is a grill by the pool that has the best food on the ship. It is only open during the day.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Little disappointed on activities available. This is the first time we had been on a small ship, so I have to take that into consideration too. Not too much going on. This cruise is more for relaxation than doing things on the ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The ship's personal entertainers were good. They also brought on some singers and a magician. Heard jokes from about 25 years ago.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was good. The servers were friendly all the time. On the last day, the front desk and some office staff were really rude to everyone. But, our trip was cut short by 3 days because of the Coronavirus and they probably didn't know if they would have a job in the near future and were anxiety ridden.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We were on Red Alert Level 2. They were cleaning continuously and all tables were cleared of salt/pepper shakers and so forth. We were constantly using antibacterial and our temperatures were taken at every port. They did a good job on keeping us healthy.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
A little disappointed on the size. I am comparing it to other ships I have been on. The closet was about 1/3 of the size you would find on other ships. No place for our suitcases, so we lifted the bed and put it on top of them. Bathroom seemed a little smaller than other ships too. They had just remodeled so the room was pretty and the bed nice and soft.

Ship tip

Eat at the Grill by the pool.

Ports of call

Papeete, Tahiti

5 out of 5
Took a tour around the whole island.

Moorea, French Polynesia

5 out of 5
Took a glass Kayak out to a reef and snorkeled. Lots of fish, stingray's and sharks.

Fakarava, Tuamotu Archipelago

5 out of 5
Must Snorkel here.

Nuku Hiva, Marquesas

4 out of 5
If you haven't scheduled an excursion, there is really no need to get off the boat.

Rangiroa, French Polynesia

4 out of 5
Dirty little port with many homeless, skinny dogs that will break your heart.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
They let us stay on the ship a little longer, because the next cruise had been cancelled.
