Review summary

We have cruised on Regent and Oceania (same owners) and have been quite pleased in the past.  While we enjoyed this cruise, there were some noticable cutbacks:  Staff were not trained as well (lack of service skills and language skills) especially the restaurant servers at the buffet. The food was not quite the quality we expected except in the specialty restaurants. The wine stewards sometimes difficult to track down and the rooms were tired and in need of some maintenance.  Nearly everyone we met had some problem--toilets didn't flush, a/c didn't work properly, curtins lacked hooks so hung down.....

Neither the menus nor the day's activities were on the TV which, IMHO, is an inconvenience that can't be that expensive to do.  Also, a daily report from the ship's Captain was only provided on the first and last day.  Temperatures and weather were never "available" on the TV. Minor problems, certainly, but I'm afraid it  does not auger well for future travel on Oceania (and probably Regent).

We have just the same impression with our last Oceania's cruise (Regatta, Feb 3 - 23, 2014 Lima to Buenos Aires). Looked like the staffs were not properly trained, the food was not of the same quality as our first Oceania's cruise (Cape Town to Singapore Jan 2013) . It seemed that they were running short on food and most of the time we had to pour our on wine because the wine stewards were not where to be found. My cabin phone was not working properly and we needed to reported it many times for them to do something almost at the end of the trip. A lot of passengers on this trip complained about the same things. We have a trip booked with Oceania for next year but at this point we are thinking what to do. AB

Do you have any photos of the ship or ports? We'd love to see. http://cruiseline.com/photos

The ports were as advertised. We liked St. Barts but we met friends there which enhanced the visit. There is no avoidance of visiting large ports along with very large cruise ships.
