Review summary

The cruise itself was fine. The weather was perfect and the ship didn't rock. We even got to see some whales and dolphins. Watching all the fireworks over Boston was pretty cool.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was super easy because we were in the handicap lane. Others waited about 2 hours in line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The seated dinner took way too long and the food wasn't anything special. The best meal I had was the Coriander dinner. The buffet was decent but I wish they had nachos more than the first day. The English pub had good food and drinks. I wasn't able to get any "late night" snacks at the Carinthia lounge because they didn't have any.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Trivia was really hard but fun. Zumba was too short but I really enjoyed it. Silly Bowling was silly, in a good way. The terrace pool was nice but the only wheelchair accessible way was through the Verandah restaurant. The afternoon tea was delightful.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were great! I loved the band in the Queens Room. Didn't catch any of the DJ's because I couldn't find them. The night club was okay.

Children's Programs

I didn't travel with any children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every employee on the ship was wonderful!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was very clean. The layout was a little confusing and I thought it was weird we had to walk through the dining room to get to the ballroom.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was a little small for 3 adults but doable. I wish there was a top sheet on the bed rather than just a comforter because it got really hot even with the AC turned all the way down.

Ship tip

Bring your own case of water. Pack snacks. Definitely bring the fanciest dress you can find. Don't forget your binoculars.

Ports of call

New York, New York Did not visit port

I used to live there.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
The daily itinerary said we had to be back at the ship at 3:30 but the gangway wasn't going up until 4. Peggy's Cove is overrated.

Boston, Massachusetts

4 out of 5
We thought we booked a Duck tour but sadly didn't. We ended up doing a trolley tour that started 1/2 hour late and the tour guide wasn't that good.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
The buffet should be kept open later on disembarkion day. We ended up waiting around for an hour after breakfast for our time to get off the ship. After that, everything went smoothly to get off the ship.

The Queen Mary is one of the most stable cruise ships.
