The best part for me was the food was of good quality and generally hot. Staff were great

Embarkation

Considering it was the Southampton Boat Show weekend we managed to get to the cruise terminal easily walking from the Red Funnel terminal. The process to board was easy. It is frustrating trying to use the lifts as the crew are using the passenger lifts for the luggage.

Food and Dining

The buffet experience was really good. The food is served to you from behind the counter. This I initially thought would be problematic but actually the queue’s were almost non existent. The food was always hot and served on hot plates. Really good. Sir Samuels was absolutely fantastic. Breakfast in Brittania was erratic depending on which waiter but the food was generally good. Lunch in the Golden Lion and Brittania was really good. The food was always very hot. The evening meal in Brittania was great. Table 512 is great spot.

Onboard Activities

There is not a lot to do unless you like ballroom dancing or quizzes.

Entertainment

A mixed bag. The main dancers and singers were great 5/5 Amethyst duo - played all the music I liked but seemed to ruin every song 1/5 Wave - fun duo sang a wide array of genres 4/5 Queens Room Singers - were like Marmite some people thought they were good some didn’t 3/5 DJ - was fine doing the quiz ,night club dead after 10pm 1/5 Bright Lights Theatre Company - 2 shows Noir and Fizz . Would not recommend either show, amateur dramatics came to mind 2/5 The Full Set - Irish duo in the pub every single night!!! 3/5 Guest Entertainers - generally great 5/5 Entertainment team 5/5

Ship Quality

The layout was good. The most frustrating point is that deck 3 promenade deck does go all the way round but the view is continuously obstructed by lifeboats. Not a pleasant walk.

Cabin / Stateroom

Huge shower, seemed spacious for an inside.

Ship tip

Don’t bother with Noir or Fizz
