Review summary

Cruises in August 2017. There were still a few issues with toilets and smells a, but apart from that enjoyed the new PAX - Pacific Explorer. Balcony rooms have a slightly narrower balcony, and the bathrooms are snug to say the least. However loved exploring the new ship, loved the little hide away bars like the Bonded Store, very intimate! Overall experience was very good. The staff were exceptional!

Although it is nor on par with Royal Caribbean, it's good if you don't have the money for those cruiselines, and they go to destinations that are not listed by many ships, like ports in Papua new Guinea for example. The ship inside is done up well, you can see the age around the ship, most noticeable in the statesrooms. If I wanted to travel overseas on a budget, this ship I would sail on. These are ex princess cruiseline ships.

Cruised on the ship was n 2017 as the Dawn Princess so was interested to see the changes on the Australia Day cruise in 2018. Firstly the no cover charge Italian & Chinese restaurants are certainly a step up for P&O. The food rivalled RCCL, and certainly better than Pacific Pearl. Service onboard certainly seemed to lacking, in the lounges and around the pool did not see any drink waiters. Certainly different to when it was with Princess. Pa f a bit extra for a balcony cabin.. don’t do this. Balconies are very small and closed in, not worth the money compared to RCCL. Get an ocean view cabin and put the extra money to your drinks bill, you will need it. Extra activities added are okay, but you have to pay extra, so kind of takes away from the putting them in to compete with other cruise lines in the first place. All up good entry level cruise if you didn’t know any better and wanted a cheap cruise. TIP: Pay a bit extra and cruise RCCL

Yes reasonably warm, when we left. Definitely much warmer up north though!
