Review summary

This was a 7 night sailing out of Seattle, Washington. The most memorable part of this cruise was the magnificent scenery encountered through the Alaska inside passage and to the glacier. We were amazed by the beauty of the mountains and hundreds of waterfalls that we saw along the way to the glacier. It was spectacular!!!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very well organized. We have done the pre-cruise checking on the RCCL’s Royal app and as soon as boarding opened up (approx 11:30 am) we began our final check- in which included showing proof of COVID vaccination and passport. The entire boarding process took about 15 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
In the MDR we were assigned a window table for two which made our dining experience very special. The food quality in the MDR was excellent. We were back-to-back cruises and we noticed that the menu was the same for both weeks. It would have been nicer to have new items on the menu the second week. The Windjammer was closed for dinner but we enjoyed eating breakfast and lunch there. We also ate dinner in the Coastal Kitchen. The food there was of upscale quality and servings had larger portions. Tables in all eating areas were spaced out for social distancing. Service was exceptional.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We have used the ship’s fitness center and the solarium on a regular basis. Ovation of the Seas had the solarium located in the front of the ship with panoramic glass walls and ceiling. It was a perfect location to view the scenic surroundings and watching for whales while sailing through the Alaskan inside passage.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
There were numerous variety of shows available. Two separate production shows were featured in the main theater as well as several headliner shows. The Two70 showroom featured virtual and high tech type entertainment which was spectacular to watch. There were plenty of other musicians and singers performing in different bars and lounges. There were also several dance parties (disco, etc. ) available. We attended the disco party and we had a blast.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The RCCL staff did a phenomenal job to make everyone happy. They went out of their way to please us and make us feel special. Thank you RCCL!!! Service was unbelievable too!!!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed this ship and the way that it was designed. The ship was extremely clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The junior suite that we booked was very accommodating to our needs. The cabin was clean and had two bathrooms. One bathroom had a tub, shower and lavatory. The second bathroom had a toilet and a lavatory. There were plenty of storage cabinets and coat closet space.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Can’t comment on disembarkation because we are doing a back-to-back cruise and we are currently on the second leg of the cruise. However I will comment on the back-to-back transfer which was done without us having to leave the ship. We also did not need to pack our luggage since we had the same stateroom.
