Review summary

The staff on Ovation are awesome apart from Guest Services. Make sure you keep an eye on your account as I had to go down there several times. I also put a block on my son’s sea pass card as he is four and some how his card worked in the arcade. I disputed the on the last day saying I put a block on his card when I checked in 48 hours prior to boarding but they said they had no record of it so before they would let us disembark we had to pay a $103 bill. The beds are very firm not to my liking. Apart from those two things the rest of the ship is awesome. There is always plenty to do for all ages. The food in the sit down restaurants was really good. The service was excellent. We ate at Chic most nights. We also ate at some of the paid restaurants as well. Jamies, Chop’s and Wonderland were all excellent. My favourite was Chop’s then a tie between Jamies and Wonderland. Windjammer was hit and miss for lunch and dinner. Sometimes the food was really bland and other times it was good. Breakfast was always good. Two 70 Cafe was a great place to get a quick snack and coffee. The roast beef rolls yum. Drink prices were very expensive when you take into account the exchange rate from Australian dollars to U.S dollars. If want to buy drink packages make sure you buy them before you board. They are about 30% cheaper online. For example the all inclusive drinks package was $73 AUS per day online but when you boarded the ship it was $70 US per day. The seaplex was a great place with lots of activities throughout the day and bumper cars in the early evening. The shows were good and there was always a movie playing either in the Royal Theatre or on the Pool Deck. The ship was nearly fully booked but it did not feel like there was that many people on the ship. The excursions are also more expensive on board as well. The staterooms are smaller than the Pacific Jewel. We had a balcony room on both ships and both on deck 11. We have only been on two cruises so I am only comparing the rooms on those ships. All and all it is a great ship with heaps to do and see but I would not sail on Ovation again due to the beds being so firm. I would definitely try another Royal Caribbean ship.
