Ship: Oceana

Cruised on the Oceana in 2016 & 2017 thoroughly enjoyed both, only negative would be is that I think the ship needs a little TLC it’s a bit tired in places, the atrium is very nice though one of the best of the P&O fleet.

Just returned from a 7... by retiredkenny

Sail date: /
Ship: Oceana

Just returned from a 7 day cruise on the Oceana, West coast of Italy I will reserve may comments to The Ship and Staff as the Ports and Weather although relevant to the overall holiday experience are more appropriate elsewhere. I have cruised a few times before however this was my first cruise with P&O my wife and I are early 50's traveling with my mother who is late 70's and has minor mobility issues, I mention this purely for context. We traveled on a fly cruise package and the travel to the ship was very well organised. Checking in was quick and painless. My first impression of the ship was that it was a little tired but my mother who had nothing to compare this to thought it beautiful. We had a standard balcony cabin on deck 9 with plenty of wardrobe space, but the cabin and balcony were a little smaller than some we have had before. Bed was comfortable if s little soft however again I realise this is subjective. We had freedom dining and had no difficulty getting a table with a choice of a private table or sitting with others, however at other times it could be busy and I am aware the they operate a paging service, if this is an issue it can be avoided by planning as we did. I certainly did not see queues as long as the one waiting for the fixed dining restaurant to open at 6:30 one evening. Service and food were both first class, again for context, we have no dietary requirements and are not fussy eaters so can't comment further. Speciality restaurants I felt were excellent value with only a small cover charge per person however choice of Venus was limited as there were only 2, understandable as this is a smaller ship. That being said there are plentiful bar areas around the ship to relax in and have s drink. I found the drink prices on board to be very reasonable with a good selection of drinks Example draught Peroni £4.50 pint Hendricks gin and tonic £5.50 from memory Cocktails about £5.50 Mocktails about £2.50. Bottle of house wine I thought was decent again subjective, £16.00. Staff very good and helpful all over the ship. Check out departure operation very slick. Would I sail again with P&O? Yes no question I may prefer a slightly newer bigger ship but I believe Oceana may be due a refit. I found this cruise thoroughly enjoyable I chose it because it was the best price for a solo traveller for the sake of my mother, she loved it and would cruise again on the same ship no question. Hope this has been helpful

Beautiful Adriatic coast by CruiserKH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Oceana / Destination: Caribbean

Sory we didn't get to visit Ephesus but Sarande in Albania was a worthwhile replacement. Venice is amazing but too crowded ( tip get the waterbus to some of the other islands they are less busy). We were thrilled by the visit to Dubrovnik, it's busy but absolutely wonderful.

Ship: Oceana

just returned today from a 7 day cruise on oceana. second time on oceana and still absolutely brilliant. a few bits of wear and tear which were being repaired, which did not affect us or the quality of the cruise. Food and service outstanding. Entertainment brilliant. M4 are a must if you get chance to see them. Cabin was clean and extremely comfortable. Ports and excursions were well organised and presented wonderfully. I cannot find a fault with our cruise or oceana and her team.

Another excellent cruise by skip4587

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Oceana / Destination: Canaries

The visits and tours were well chosen. the food and entertainment excellent.

It is a pity about some of the moners below  One said the trip was for the elderly and there were a lot of old people on.  What age is that person who daily is getting older.

Another complained about the cold and told Reception. lets be right it is March.  Get a cardigan.

Overall Oceana has a small-ship feel... by taurus2404

Sail date: /
Ship: Oceana

Overall Oceana has a small-ship feel about her. She is beautiful in her own way, not overly glitzy and quite elegant. The Atrium is a really nice spot to sit and watch the world go by. There are plenty of outdoor spaces to escape the crowds on sea days, especially at the forward and aft upper decks. Magnums is a lovely bar for pre and post-dinner drinks. This was our first P & O cruise and we had already booked to go on Brittania before we embarked on this one. We have tried to change this to another Carnival brand, i.e. Cunard or Holland America but have been told that we cannot do this without losing our deposit. We both really hope Britannia is a better experience! Overall, nothing really awful but could have been a much higher standard, which we were expecting. Dining We had freedom dining in the Ligurian restaurant, which on the whole was disappointing, there was nothing actually wrong with it other than being mediocre and a long long way from fine dining. Gala evenings' menus proved slightly better but this really should have been the minimum standard on offer. The dress code was largely ignored, again disappointing when you want to dress for dinner to make it an occasion . Restaurant service was far too rushed too, one evening we had a three course meal with coffee and were in and out in 45 minutes! Waiters had a tendency to clear away plates whilst others were still eating, which is unacceptable. We didn't eat in the buffet so can't comment, the food in the Horizon Grill was adequate, fried fish, fried burgers, fried chicken with, you guessed it, fries. We ate in both speciality dining venues, The Beach House was good as was Cafe Jardin although the latter lacked intimacy and atmosphere. Entertainment Cant really comment as we only saw a couple of performances, but fellow passengers seemed to be very impressed with all the variety on offer. Your Cabin We were in Orion Suite , C746 on the aft of the ship which was absolutely incredible. It was spacious and beautifully furnished with a huge balcony . Our butler was Collin and nothing was too much trouble for him, from helping with the unpacking to bringing a full breakfast to the Suite every morning. We couldn't have asked for more from the accommodation and service within it. Service We couldn't help but feel that many members of staff in the bars and restaurants really didn't want to be on the ship, their attitude was indifferent at best and rude at worst. Of course, there were exceptions and they were delightful.

My favourite P&O ship by... by pjd8283

Ship: Oceana

My favourite P&O ship by far so far. Lovely layout and atmosphere. Entertainment was fantastic. The headliners theatre group were much of a muchness. I do wish a show could be put on rather than just a medley of show hits. Food was fantastic in MDR. Our excursions were worth every penny and the tour guides were brilliant. They alone were worth the expense. Cabin was dated compared to other ships but we were on lido deck and didn't have any problems with noise. All in all fantastic. We go on again this year and really looking forward to it!

Ship: Oceana

We found the ship a bit over crowded crowded but the food was excellent. It was a shame that the planned stop in Amsterdam had to be changed, but Bruges was delightful. However another bit of a let down was the musical acts playing in the bar - a bit out of tune!!

Ship: Oceana

Me and my husband boarded the Oceana on Saturday 29th of December 2018 to go to Hamburg and Bruge. We had a fantastic time and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. As I am in a wheelchair they got me on and off the ship with no problems. We are now looking forward to our next cruise on the Britannia on the 27th of July
