Review summary

This was a cruise to remember. The first of many I have planned to discover my love of the water again- Rest was my mission, a mental break, so much easier than going somewhere and having to drive to eat, drive to see, this to me is much more relaxing and restful. It revitalized my love for sailing.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The terminal (cape Liberty) now has a streamline process that allows so many guests in about every 30 minutes starting at 11 am. Having purchased The Key i not only was on the ship at 11 am but I had lunch planned at 12 provided by Chops, internet service for one device, streamlined diembarkation on the last day of sailing with my luggage in a much smaller, closer to the exit point , and reserved preferred seating at events.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room had its excellant food choices and classics each night, the staff was friendly and quite helpful. There were nights when they were really running due to low staff and the men I call the suits, were helping, cleaning tables, bringing food, setting tables, a real teamwork atmosphere. Paul,Harwich, Rohit, Julie, Yuana in the main dining room were excellent. Restie and James were our entertainment chef and server in Izumi Hibachi which was fabulous enough for 2 visits!. Giovinis Italian in Central Park was exquistite and we had so many people helping us to enjoy the evening I have forgotten their names, but they were buzzing around all helping each other. The Windjammer was one half side for each meal which meant less choices, however enough to be efficient and fulfilling. The Solarium Bistro had healthly cooked food and a large variety enough to satisfy my cravings while i was taking a break form the pool.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I can rate the spa with Chrystal and Ana as a hit with me- definitely made the cruise relaxing and stressfree!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Aqua show, CAts musical, the comedians, kareoke, triviaa games, and the comedian juggler, were not only facinating and entertaining, they were unique and as always special and gregarious with the audience as well!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff and crew had a smile and as many as I can remember they remembered my name as well- service was undeniable Royal, as were the staff- Customer service is difficult at best and they were phenomenal as per usual on Royal in my experience of 30+ cruises.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The only thing I can say is this ship is designed and packed efficently. It is a huge ship with a huge reputation that it lives up to each and everytime I sail on it.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The beds have been revamped from my memory and are more comfortable than ever, lines perfectly made into a dream cabin when you open the door! Fresh smelling and fresh air at your beck and call. The balcony door was a bit difficult to open and close and the temp was a bit on the warmer side. I shall pack a fan for my next cruises.

Ship tip

Prepare for the size, it is a large ship that packs a big punch, hard to see it all in 7 days. Book two cruises and really explore!

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

much easier streamlined embarkation

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth as silk- my luggage was in a designated area for sailers who purchased The Key, easier to find, and closer to the exit- We took the NYC tour to the airport, stopped at Ground Zero and had about 45 minues to explore- arrived at the airport in plenty of time for the 3 pm flight home.
