Review summary

My husband, two elementary school aged sons, and I all had a great time on this ship. We loved exploring all the decks, finding our way around to different restaurants and activities. We found this ship to be clean, casual, bustling, yet relaxed. There was plenty to do for both adults and children, and plenty of food and friendly faces.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The overall quality of the food was good. Most meals we were all able to find something we liked, even if it wasn't in the same place. At times for lunch the kids would go to the grill and get a burger or hot dog and then meet us at the buffet after we had found what we liked there. We really enjoyed dining at the Seven Seas restaurant, too. Friendly service there and interesting food choices (including "Cooking Light" options which I found helpful and delicious) made that our spot of choice most meals. We almost always got seated right away when we went. I liked that there were vegetarian options, too. It was a good alternative to the buffet, when we wanted to take our time with a meal, and enjoy the personalities of the waitstaff from all around the world.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We found the variety of options suited our needs well. We enjoyed the performances at the Palace Theater each night, ranging from music/dance shows, to a comedian, to a magician, to "game show" type activities. There was music to be heard all around the ship, on deck with the pool, or in lounges and bars. We made use of the karaoke a bit, and I even participated in their Talent Seeker Contest, which was a real thrill for me, because I got to sing with the ship's amazing band! My husband enjoyed a lecture about the history of Bermuda while on board. We participated in one of the ship's off shore excursions, of which there were many to choose from, going on a glass bottomed boat to see the underwater life, which was terrific and also became a mini tour and history/science learning experience. The schedule each day had something for everyone.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Both kids participated in the children's program. The staff was friendly, enthusiastic, with fun games that were absolutely age appropriate for both of our kids. They split the kids into age groups for some activities, but other times both boys were together. They loved playing "Survivor", enjoyed meeting the Captain and getting a backstage tour of the Theater with the Cruise Director. The fact that this children's program was included in the price was a definite plus. We felt that our kids were safe and having fun. There was quite a full schedule, too. Our kids didn't make it to all the activities, but they did do most evenings, and some afternoon and mornings with the program, and were eager to go. We would like to have known ahead of time, though, that we would need to tip the children's program staff in cash, because they are not part of the "automatic tipping" that we are charged for the the waitstaff and cleaning staff. Definitely a highlight of the trip for the kids!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The ship staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The cruise director really seemed to love her job, and did a great job being around to chat, to liven up the crowd, to keep people in a great mood. The waitstaff really worked hard to please us all. One particular waiter, upon seeing our younger son upset when we arrived to the restaurant, went out of his way to cheer him up, make him feel better, and get us all laughing, relieving all our stress, improvinig all our moods.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship seemed large to us, but we quickly found our way around. The layout worked well, with the children's activities often being quite near the places we wanted to go after dropping the kids off. The ship was quite clean and the decor lively, fun, casual, with options for being fancy if you wanted.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
We chose to have one room for the four of us. The room was small, but we were able to all store our belongings in the drawers and closets easily. The beds were comfortable. The kids had fun using ladders to go up to their beds which came out from the walls. But those same ladders did sometimes make it difficult for them to get in and out of bed easily. The stateroom was kept very clean by wonderful cleaning people who made amazing towel animals each night, which we all loved. The bathroom was small, but it all functioned well.

Ports of call

St. George's, Bermuda

5 out of 5
The "must see"s are the beautiful beaches with crytal clear water of different shades of blue, soft sand, amazing rock formations, and tropical fish that you can swim with and see with a snorkel and mask. Seeing the pastel homes and colorful flowers everywhere is impossible to miss. Didn't check out the restaurants on the island (enjoyed the food on the ship, which was already paid for). We did really enjoy the Crystal Caves/Fantasy Caves with its incredible stalactites and stalagmites and pretty garden.
Don't Miss: Horseshoe Bay Beach with its pink sand and rock formations. Go past the rocks to find more privacy and quiet and waves.

Pros: Plenty of fun on board, and on the island of Bermuda.

Cons: That smoking is still allowed in certain places on board these days.
