We were really excited to try Royal Caribbean since we heard that it is far superior to other cruise lines that we have patronized, specifically Carnival and Norwegian. We were disappointed, however, overall by our experience on the Majesty of the Seas due to the food, entertainment, and staff.
First, the food was disappointing. The main dining room was not open for lunch at all during our cruise, and the buffet was extremely sub-par. We felt that the dinners aboard were better on Carnival and Norwegian, too. Furthermore, the main buffet closed early every night, leaving only pizza. We had high hopes for late night ice cream and French fry snacks, but found that they were unavailable.
Second, we felt the entertainment was a bit lacking. While the main theater shows were wonderful, there was little beyond those main theater shows in the way of entertainment. The cruise line did have some adult parties after 10:30 p.m., but we did not stay awake for them.
Finally, the staff was a noticeably less courteous than staff members on other cruise lines.
We did enjoy the ports of call, but overall, we wish we had spent less money or bought a longer vacation with Carnival or Norwegian.

Thanks For posting your First review here. Usually MD R is opened on sea days but not when the ship is in port. Hope that your next cruise is a better fit for you.
