Sail date: October 07, 2012

Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Large Group

Review summary

Rudeness of the staff on the dock in Bayonne. (I wouldn't want that job, but people are on vacation and it's a service industry). The ship was nice, the golf and the skating were cool, but the shows and the food were way below expectation. The food and entertainment are better on the Princess Cruise line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was all over the place in the dining room. The appetizers were generally good. The fish dishes were basically gross\, dry and flavorless. My friend actually spit his out in a napkin\, and the beef dishes were poor. A big disappointment. I wouldn't even call it good banquet food. The buffet however was pretty good\, and Portofinos was absolutely amazing!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Only one show per night and it was all very homogenous. Mostly just singing. Other boats I've been on have had two different venues with variety. Jugglers\, comedians and singers and dancers. A variety of music was played at the different bars each night\, which was good\, but not a lot of different activities.. like karaoke or games with cruisers etc.

We had an outside balcony at the bump out by the elevators. It was nice.

Pros: Bermuda\, the destination

Cons: The food and the entertainment
