Explorer of the Seas

5 Night Bermuda (Cape Liberty Roundtrip)

Sail date: April 07, 2012

Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship was dated up close. The balconies were in need of fresh paint and the railings were ugly. The Atrium pool was heated one day and not heated the next. Too bad, because it was so cold that the only water activity on ship involved the hot tubs and they were crowded. I felt that every option (even a soda by the pool) meant additional cost. Basic soda, wine, beer, and water should be provided in all locations. Same with internet. Basically I feel that I was nickel and dimed for basic services.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
There were only 2 fine dining options and one of those cost an extra $20 per person per meal (so we didn't try it). More dining options are needed to provide a variety in experiences.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
There should be more options for the thoughtful adult (educational opportunities, historical opportunities). The one lecture on Bermuda pirates was very interesting, but there should be more like it.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Superlative staff!

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Very nice stateroom with the exception of the rusty, paint peeling balcony. The television must have been 20 years old and needed updating. There should be free wireless internet in all staterooms.

Pros: Quality of Service, Dining Room Food Quality

Cons: No free internet; cruise balcony rusty and paint was peeling; lack of free beverages (basic soda, beer, wine).

Recommends Explorer of the Seas? No.
