Although the service is excellent, and Castaway Cay is beautiful, overall our experience was not better than our other cruise experiences. The much higher cost of a Disney cruise cannot be justified.

Food and Dining

The World of Marvel dining room was extremely loud and chaotic. The food was just ok. We were very surprised that Disney would think it was an acceptable dining experience. Arendelle was only slightly better. We left as soon as our meal was finished. 1923 was good, and also our preference for breakfast as the buffet was limited. We did enjoy room service for dinner, and would recommend it for anyone wanting an escape from the chaos. The buffet is closed for dinner so the only options in the evening are the very noisy themed dining rooms, room service, or paying for the expensive specialty restaurants.
Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge

Cool to see but the drinks are a bit pricey

Extremely noisy. Tables very close together. Not an acceptable dining experience.
Onboard Activities

Not much to do for adults. The pool areas were all packed, including the adult only pool.
Entertainment

90% of the entertainment is geared toward children

Ship Quality

The ship was very clean, however the design was terrible. The layout doesn’t flow at all. For the muster drill, we were all corralled into the theatre. Needless to say the stairwells were dangerously packed when everyone was leaving afterwards.
Cabin / Stateroom

Although the cabin decor is lovely, we found the bathroom areas to be quite tight. I appreciate the concept of having a separate shower room and toilet room, but the rooms are too small.
Ship tip
It’s probably great for people traveling with children, but I absolutely do not recommend it for adults looking for a relaxing vacation.
We were given a set time in the 1923 dining room for breakfast, and advised to bring everything with us as we were not allowed to return to our room afterwards.
Definitely not a cruise looking for relaxation in my opinion. I would suggest other cruise line like princess or celebrity. I never go on DCL expecting relaxation beyond my son going to the kids club and going to the spa. It does suck that the areas with the lounge chair also double as the pool deck for parties because there is no where you can lounge in the deck compared to Royal Caribbean. The food is sufficient for kids and there are some pleasant options for adults only. Animators palate is my favorite.
