Loved the staff, activities, shows and details found on the ship. Disliked the online check in process, the horrible elevators and the inability to reserve a specialty restaurant because we were slowly Silver Castaway members. Also didn't care for the slow, not facial recognition disembarking process.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
We arrived at the port within 30 minutes of our PAT but waited for 2 hours. While not Disney's fault (obviously the ship wasn't cleared for whatever reason) it was a slow start to vacation.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Due to how Disney allows you to reserve specialty restaurants, we could not get a reservation. Concierge guests clear out most of the reservations before others have a chance. We did enjoy our regular dining rotations. Especially Arendelle.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We enjoyed the shows and Halloween activities. Definitely sign up for the Walking the Wish tour as it points out so many details that would be missed on your own. The Uncharted Adventure was a tad annoying as we lost connection or had to participate in an activity in a major walkway, impeding other guests. We enjoyed the spa but wouldn't pay the fee to go there again.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We loved the entertainment. Disney excels in this category as they should. Make sure you listen to the Halloween music in the piano bar.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was incredible. Especially Marla on our dining rotations. (You keep the same staff for the entire cruise throughout the venue changed for dining)
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship is gorgeous with so many tiny details. The lack of elevators is quite annoying. Only 2 sets and no central elevator bank which is quite needed. The design of the elevator buttons was poorly though out. You will accidentally brush up against the buttons or have someone lean and all floors will be pushed for a stop. Happens often. But if you want to push your specific floor it will take multiple attempts on both sides sometimes. Blue carpet is found at the aft/back of the ship and green for the front/forward. This helped us to confirm where we were!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Loved our veranda though you do have an overhang that limits your views looking up. Due to the lack of a third set of elevators, it is a hike to and from this cabin. Separate toilet and shower room were nice.
Ship tip
Check in process for PAT is horrid, just keep trying. The ship is gorgeous but easy to get turned around in. If you are a couple, request your own table before you board. We presumed with Covid we would have our own table. We were quite wrong and did not know this beforehand even with reading suggestions from our cruise Facebook group.
It was fine. The lines are quite long for food and we had fewer people on our cruise than normal. (About 75%full). Shopping is quite sad. Lack of merchandise unless you want a 5k shirt. While there was no chance to get a cabana because we weren't concierge having the option for those not wanting to spend 5 figures for a 4 night cruise would have been nice. Weather was rainy and cool so we took the tram around and went back to the ship.
So, this is our 3rd cruise this year. Carnival Mardi Gras in January (with our 7 kids) and MSC Divina in June for our first B2B. Both of these companies has the facial scan walk through customs/immigration. Seamless. Disney has the slow, one family at a time wait for a human to look at your documents. Huge lines to get off the ship. Took forever. Disney needs to get with the times.
