Review summary

Overall it was a great experience I cruise ALOT. This was my first Disney cruise and I enjoyed it however at the price point I’m not sure that I personally would go on them again unless I was able to get a good deal or was taking a niece or nephew. It’s definitely aimed more at families, which I expected but was hoping there would be a little more for the adults. The areas were there on the ship, just not open all day. Every inside bar was closed by midnight and most didn’t open until 5. So for me it was not a great value, for what I paid for my verandah room I could have booked a suite level room on Celebrity or NCL which are equally matched with food, service and entertainment quality and offer more activities for adults.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food across the board was amazing. The buffet was good for both breakfast and lunch. My favorite meal was at Roy’s 1923 the entire meal was 5 star dining at its best. My favorite dinner experience was the show at Arendale. The trio of musicians that performed during dinner were outstanding. Cocktails we really enjoyed the bayou bar it was a pretty space to grab a drink and a beignet the nightingales bar was also very pretty and had fantastic champange cocktails however it did not open until 5 and seemed to always be overcrowded it was also very small.

Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure

This was my favorite restaurant for the entertainment the show was very cute for the kids which we expected however the trio of musicians performing were absolutely amazing and as adults traveling without any small children I didn’t expect to love this as much as I did. As for the food itself it was good but not much wow factor when it came to taste, presentation was pretty.

Not only was the space beautiful but the drinks were outstanding. Nice selection of wines and quiet atmosphere with a great view during the day.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge

5 out of 5

So I’m going to say I’m not what you would call a Star Wars fan. I’m familiar with the original 3 movies from my childhood but have not watched any others. I totally enjoyed the cool factor of this bar it truly was a Disney level experience. So much we went to the bar twice during our three days on board.

Onboard Activities

I’m going to start this by saying that I was traveling without children so this review is as an adult aboard. The adult pool area was lacking. Very little shade and the pool is basically the size of a large hot tub. There is a small bar area that’s just a walk up no place to sit at the bar. We arrived at the pool area around 11 so it was VERY crowded already we finally found a place to sit on the second level above the “pool” with some shade from the deck above. There were no cocktail servers coming around during the hour and a half that we sat there. While I’m talking about pools that is something that is lacking in general on this ship there are several small wading pools but not really a main pool. This would not be a good ship for a trip with several sea days as there really isn’t much to occupy you as an adult during the day. There were some drawing classes and arts and crafts. The trivia on board was scheduled around the same time as the theatre shows and there wasn’t any live music indoors during the day as most of the bars were closed inside until 5 Hyperspace opened at 3 and the bayou was open in the morning but closed for a private event right after lunch

Entertainment

The theatre shows were fantastic. And the pirate deck party was amazing. The musicians in the bars were ok. We did not go to the movie theatre.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward Orlin was top notch he made our stay fantastic taking care of us so well. We asked him the first night for wine glasses and he made sure we always had fresh glasses in our room. Our dining staff was also amazing Marvin and Cara took such great care of us at dinner.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was a brand new ship so it was very clean. It was fairly easy to navigate and only had a few traffic jam spots. Mainly the elevators that were placed at the entry of world of marvel. There was a line gathering to go into dinner blocking getting on and off the elevators.

Ship tip

Take snacks and if you are a drinker some wine. There is not a lot of included food available during off times the buffet closes at two and does not reopen until breakfast the following day we had late dining at 8:15 hoping for less kids at dinner. So if we needed something to nosh on to get us to dinner we had to purchase something there was no swinging thru the buffet around 5. I’m not really a pizza person unless I’m drunk and that was really all that was available late night. You can order room service but then your stuck in your room waiting for it. Cocktails were very expensive with tip most landing in the $16 to $20 range. we were glad we had taken some wine on board

Ports of call

Castaway Cay (Disney Private Island)

We had a good time the beach is very pretty. Serenity bay the adult area was very serene and for us very boring. We ended up leaving and going to the pelican point beach we’re there was more life going on.
