Review summary

A nice getaway and having one port makes it a bit more interesting than a repositioning cruise. If you are interested in seeing if cruising is for you this is a nice itinerary to try.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Main dining room (anytime) Great food and service. Buffet was well laid out with good food and selection and we appreciate the hand washing stations at the entrance. The Bayou Cafe has excellent food and service and a unique menu.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

The production show Encore is not to be missed! The comedian Scott Wyler was funny and has a deadpan style. We also had a good ventriloquist but don't sit in the front row unless you want to be part of the act.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We have always received excellent service from Princess and this was no exception. The cruise director John Loney is the best and we have enjoyed Mr. Energy on one other Princess cruise. Look for him back on one of the Australia runs in a couple of months.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Princess continues to work hard to make sure all of the common areas stay clean and spotless. We liked the layout of the ship and especially enjoyed the fact that the promenade deck was just one level without stairs so walking around for exercise was easier. We also saw several whales on our walls so that was an added bonus!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was spacious and the deck was nice. Our room steward kept it stocked and refreshed and we were never left wanting anything.

Ship tip

See Encore!!!!

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia Did not visit port

Simply the embarkation port.

Astoria, Oregon

A quaint seaside town. The maritime museum is great. As are the Flavel House, and Heritage museum. The film museum is just ok but a must for Goonies fans and a discounted price available for Film, Flavel, and film together. All of these can be done in one port call on your own. Great seafood in town and get dessert at Frite and Scoop for handmade ice cream in unique flavors.

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California Did not visit port

Just debarkation port.

Disembarkation

Could have been smoother, but we understand everyone wants to be the 1st off the ship.
