Review summary

words are simply not enough .......

if a picture paints a thousand words, I'll just have to pass on the text. You will NOT be disappointed ..... especially if you do your own excursions - that we did by following the excellent Rick Steves guide book.

Ship tip

Don't miss the brunch display on your sea-day, it will take your breath away! Remember your camera & spend 20 mins absorbing the colours, etc before divulging. We didn't buy the drinks package but still 'blagged' at least 10 glasses of wine each. Same with specialty restaurants - plenty of offers.

Traveler Photos

Murano - not as posh as I expected fab bathroom the grand bazaar in Istambul is a must but avoid eye-contact with vendors zumba - some larger ladies stayed sat down!!!! after everyone has gone to bed - the ship is even better

We kept asking ourselves that same question and, in all honesty, every town/city we visited was fantastic in its own delightful way. Herculaneum was favoured to Pompeii as it is more do-able and more intact and combined with the Naples National Museum (the one with all the artifacts from both ruined sites) followed with a walk down Via Toledo which is the Spanish quarter that splits Naples and leads back down towards the ship past a wonderful arcade/galleria of shops it is a wonderful day out. Tip: the walk from the ship to the Circumvesuvia Termini (train station) is about 15-20 mins and is ok but when you get back into Naples from Herculaneum (Erculo Scavi), avoid the walk and get the underground to the museum as it'll avoid a walk through a ghetto-type area that is a bit 'seedy' Have a great time if your cruise takes you that way.
