Review summary

I have cruised on 11 different cruise lines that include Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Holland America, Disney, Costa, Cunard, and Celebrity. This was my 17 cruise on Celebrity (I am an Elite member of Celebrity captain’s club program). I am 47 years old. Ship Info: Celebrity is one of our favorites when we are traveling with just adults. We sailed in January for 7 nights when school was in session, so the average age was probably around upper 60’s. Even if school was out, there usually is not as many children compared to other cruise lines that offer a lot of family activities (water slides, rock climbing walls, etc). The ship was extremely clean. Activities: If you want to take some gym classes (yoga, spinning), you should make reservations on the first day for these classes. They offered an unlimited class program on embarkation day for around $125. I didn’t take any classes; however, I did use the weights every day. I recommend that they get more 8, 10, 12, and 15 lb weights. We love sitting in the solarium pool area because it is peaceful with spa music. If you are NOT looking for a “bar crawl”experience and a variety of pool games, this is a great cruise line for you. Service: Service was friendly in all areas, and it might have been in my top 3 for all around best service. I saw some guests being very rude to employees (screaming at them because they didn’t get the table they wanted), and the employees handled themselves with grace and dignity while trying to calm down the guests. Stateroom: We stayed in a deluxe interior cabin. This was the largest inside cabin I have seen. The lights were by far the best I have seen because you can adjust as needed. Dining: I absolutely loved the four main dining rooms that you can experience for a variety. Before you order your meal, ask the waiter what they recommend. If you don’t like what they brought you, they will bring you something new immediately. Another tip, asked to have the cheese and cracker plate they offer during dessert brought to you before your appetizers so you can enjoy them before your meal. If you don’t like crowds, eat in the main dining room for breakfast and lunch instead of the buffet. The specialty restaurants are excellent too. We made reservations in Eden and La Petite Chef and loved the experience because it was different from other cruise experiences. When I cruise on her again, I am going to try the steak house. If you want to eat in a specialty restaurant, I recommend booking it in advance and not on the same nights as their Evening Chic nights because I find those nights have great menus in the main dining room. To avoid the first day lunch buffet crowd, go to a specialty restaurant when you get on board. The pastries and desserts at Cafe al Bacio are free and very good! Plus, if you have the beverage package, the coffees and teas are included. The solarium also has a small healthy breakfast and lunch buffet in the corner I enjoyed. If you have the premium beverage package, it includes fresh smoothies and juice. Dress Code: They offer two Evening Chic nights, less than 50% were dressed up in a suit/dress. Most people dressed business causal during the dinners. Entertainment: We saw all their evening shows and enjoyed them especially the first night comedian. If you want to see them, they are usually at 7:15 pm and 9:15 pm. The musicians in the bars were excellent, but if you don’t enjoy loud music, keep that in mind because they are louder than other cruises I have experienced. Disembarkation: If you want to carry all your bags off the ship by yourself, they will let you off starting at around 7 a.m. Other: We never got off the ship. We received some devastating news during our cruise that a family member passed away so my heart was broken and I decided to stay on board. The reason I share this is because if I was in such a sad place and still saw this cruise as 5 stars, it goes to show you it was an excellent cruise. Yes, I will cruise on her again, but I will wait until the price goes down. Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
