Very short stay on board due to medical emergency

Easy embarkation.. was given boarding time.. arrived a little early.. didn’t seem to be a problem for the staff.. in reflection could have arrived earlier.. One in Stateroom found welcome letter, inviting us to lunch exclusive to Concierge Class.. small timing issue.. Special lunch was available 12:00pm - 2:00pm.. our official boarding time was 1:30pm.. even boarding earlier at around 12:30/12:45.. did not give us time to board, find our stateroom and take advantage of the Concierge Lunch offer..

Medical staff were excellent and cared for me for 23 hours until they could evacuate me off the ship in Hobart Tasmania.

Ship tip

Make sure you have travel insurance when you travel. I suffered a heart attack and spent 23 hours in the medical centre cost to me US$4300.00 converted AUS $7500.00 .. don’t get me wrong worth every penny to keep me stable to reach Hobart and Hospital Beware of the currency you are paying for services on board, you may find a sting in the hip pocket at the end of the cruise..

Disembarkation

Professional and efficient to coordinate the Ambulance Service and transfer me from the Medical Facility on the ship to Royal Hobart Hospital. My wife was able to use the ship for some meals and overnight, while we were organising a local hotel for the to move to. A day later they assisted my wife to be moved with luggage from the ship into the terminal and to a nearby hotel before the ship departed Hobart for Sydney .

Glad you are ok. We watched you going off the ship and you seemed in good spirits. Very pleased to hear they looked after you. I hope you cruise again on the Eclipse, great ship and wonderful staff.

Thanks for your review. Sorry to hear about your medical issue and I hope you are okay now. It sounds like you received good care while onboard. Definitely an eye opener about getting travel insurance.
