Review summary

Love Hawaii and Vancouver. There are lots to see. But, here's where I learned a lesson. A wildfire broke out at 9am in the mountains on the island of Maui & the roads were closed on that side at about 1pm. We had to be rescued by Pacific Whale Foundation after the harbor we were diverted to was evacuated. Celebrity did not "notify" us until 4:47pm. Advice: turn on local radio, do not rely on Celebrity to make you aware or resolve your issue because you can't get thru on the emergency ph# during an actual emergency. Ge the cell ph# of others onboard to utilize during emergencies.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The specialty restaurants & buffets were winning. The main dining room was not (boring & no flavor). Also, the main dining room put a tomato sauce on lobster tail, very strange for lobster night.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Granted there were quite a few older people onboard, the ship activities were for 100 yr olds. For example: paper airplane flying was an actual event. There were tons of shopping 'activities' on the schedule. I don't consider that as an activity.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
There was a good comedian onboard & a lot of people enjoyed the male singer/story teller. I also enjoyed the acrobatic show & the singer in the lounge. But, all of that filled about 4 days.

Children's Programs

I didn't have children with me.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff is always really good.

Ship Quality

Ship tip

You really have to make your own fun & make it a point to meet fun people.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Vancouver is great

Hilo, Hawaii

4 out of 5
Hilo was fun. Rented a car & saw the sights. Also, there was a free festival in the downtown area. But, it doesn't feel very clean. So, I didn't eat off the ship.

Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

5 out of 5
The Kona side is small but, lovely

Lahaina, Maui

Lahaina has lots to see. But, here's where I learned a lesson. A wildfire broke out at 9am in the mountains of the island & the roads were closed on that side at about 1pm. We had to be rescued by Pacific Whale Foundation after the harbor we were diverted to was evacuated. Celebrity did not "notify" us until 4:47pm. Advice: turn on local radio, do not rely on Celebrity or even your travel agent to make you aware or resolve your issue because you can't get thru on the emergency ph# during an actual emergency.
