Review summary

In order to qualify for anytime dining, you are required to pre-pay your tip. What a poor system - tip before you get the service? And to no suprise, we had the worst service of all our 8 cruises. Our room stewart was terrible. The public spaces of this ship are very small. It has 3 tiny, tiny pools and way too many people. You couldn't get a chair on sea days. The glass blowing demonstration is a wasted space - put another pool and some lounge chairs with shade up there. Why all the specialty restaurants at $40 per person? The food is excellent in the "free" restaurant. Take out those restaurants and put in another pool or another cocktail lounge with free entertainment for the guests.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The best food of any cruise we have been on.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The circus show is poor. Skip the hula hoop lady and put the 4 male acapella singers up on stage with an orchestra - they were fantastic. Loved the magician. And the adult comedian was a riot - and not one swear word out of his mouth. The Broadway Show was very good. The Master of Cermonies (Cruise Director) really tried hard, but it just wasn't really good entertainment.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
I would never bring a child of any age on this ship. It is not appropriate to have a baby in the dining room where most of the guests are over 65 years old. There is nothing for small children or teenagers to do on this ship.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
They barely did their job. Pre-paid gratuities really gives no incentive to do your job well. In the dining area - they know who you are. Our hostess did not have shoes one night. She never remembered us. We rarely received our coffee after our dinner....one night we ate with the "assigned-time diners" and still were treated as "second class citizens".

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Very poorly designed. Where are all the small hidden areas you can sit and read a book in the shade? Where are all the cocktail lounges? No prominade deck. The "running/track" goes right in the middle of the lounge chairs - you couldn't even walk it without bumping into another guest. The lounge chairs around the pools are smashed up against each other. You can't even walk between them. You bump elbows with the stranger next to you. The adult pool has wooden lounge chairs literally nailed together. Very difficult to climb in and out of.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Nice and clean. Pretty private balcony for a boat cruise. Biggest bathroom we have ever had. Comfortable beds.

Pros: The food

Cons: This new ship was poorly designed. It was made to generate money for Celebrity and not for the enjoyment of the guests.

Recommends Celebrity Eclipse? No.
