Review summary

This was our 5th cruise on Celebrity and it was still nice but not as good as earlier cruises.  The food was good but not really special.  The crew was very good.  Our cabin steward was very good and there was ice waiting for me every afternoon when we got back on the ship. What I was most upset about was all the little extra charges Celebrity was trying to charge for things that used to be included with the cruise.  Several ports were located a couple of miles from the actual city.  Celebrity charged $12 a person for the shuttle service from the ship to the city.  Last year on our South American cruise this service was free.  There were a lot of people quite upset and I do believe if the ship advertises that it is visiting Dubrovnik, Ravenna and Zadar, they ought to bring you to Dubrovnik, Ravenna and Zadar. What has happened in my opinion is Celebrity is now just like the other cruise lines where they try to wring every last dime out of their passengers.  Where they used to be a little better, now they are just the same.

We are on her in 19 days. Didn't realise ship doesn't dock in zadar.

We were on the Connie on 9th May, we paid 12$ for the ride, return, into Zadar, which was a long way, but the nearest they could get docked so I thought it was good value. We walked into Dubrovnik and back, a very pleasant stroll, so no 12$ paid there, but I don't think we went to Ravenna. For us a brilliant cruise, so much so we have booked the Connie again in December.

They weren't talking about excursions here, but the proximity to town. And they said nothing about not stopping at a port either.I think the point made was valuable to people like me who will be visiting some of these ports in September, now I know what to expect in Zadar for example. I understand it is also a short walk into town for those able to walk

Excursions are never included in any cruise. Some ports of call might have free shuttle or bus service; this is nothing to do with the cruise line. Also if they don't stop at a certain port could be related to weather. I've had situations like that where ports were cancelled last minute but I still had a great cruise.
