Review summary

Spotlessly clean, crew at every corner with antiseptic goo for hands trying to prevent spread of norovirus which had been on board on the previous cruise - did not help though as crew and passengers were going down with it every day. Quiet cruise, no public announcements for activities, a pleasure as only noon daily update by captain. Problem with vegetarianism in dining room one night - salmon dish marked vegetarian, when I queried it, the waiter said some eat fish. I complained to the maitre d' who said it was a mistake. Unacceptable that this happens as one can't be sure now that the vegetarian dishes are really vegetarian. This happened also in the Aqua Spa health bar. The Muslim Indian waiters understood my problem as they were not eating meat on board (no halaal meat available), and were most helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Problem with waiters using the same implements for fish and meat as for salad in the Aqua Spa health bar buffet, every day I had to tell the servers in the buffet not to use the same tongs for the fish as for the tomato - obviously not enough in-depth training. Waiters in dining room made sure I had a variety of vegetables and salads at night, went out of their way to do so. Always smiling.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Dance shows better than expected, large variety of musicians, did not attend any other activities, Perry Grant's shows were full every night.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Found all personnel to be exceptionally friendly and helpful, even though they were exhausted from doing double duty - after normal working hours they had to put in time standing around making sure everyone was using the antiseptic goo on their hands. Again, waiters in dining room were great.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Easy to get around the ship, new light look to staterooms, public areas furniture a bit heavy and dark, crew cleaning all the time.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Stateroom more than large enough, great with the light wood and big mirrors, bathroom had plenty of room and shower was bigger than usual. Towels, though, too small, amenities replenished every day without asking. Excellent service by room steward.

Pros: St Petersburg

Cons: No black out curtains
