Review summary

The entire cruise to me felt like a flea market with people trying to sell me junk. There were more things on the itinerary on the ship that had to do with sales in the shops than there was actual entertainment. Soda is extra and yet it is hard to find, off the ship on the private island where food was included, soda wasn't but they don't tell you that until you already paid $3.50 for one, and the last kick in the nuts is the mandatory tip for the staff. So if you were a nice guy and had been tipping everyone, you got screwed. This is only our second cruise so maybe this is how everyone does it but we wont be back.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
All the food was fine, nothing special, we ate at the taco bar more than anything, it was better than the actual dining rooms.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Not a lot to do on sea days, pretty boring.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
There weren't very many shows, the guy in the piano bar was great, besides that is was not good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone was very friendly

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was clean

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
For a boat it was good, we enjoyed the window.

Ship tip

Our cruise wasn't great, we booked an excursion from a private vendor which was great, we didn't want to do the giant crowd of tourist type offerings from Carnival. But days 2&3 were on islands where there was nothing to do but shop or do those boring tourist things.

Maybe you’re right and cruising isn’t for you. Absolutely nothing wrong with that, it’s not for everyone. Or maybe a different cruise line would suit you better.

Clearly, cruising is not for you.

Carnival is a good intro to cruising and can be fun, but other lines (at a higher cost) can have better options, depending on what you want. Research is your friend. This person may not be cruiser material though.

If you decide at some point to go on another cruise here is some great info for you pertaining to gratuities. You have the option to tip the people who helped you and served you on the cruise directly. you can do that on your own and you can also choose to change the amount of your daily gratuity or cancel it all together at Guest services.
