Review summary
This was my very first cruise and even though I was a little apprehensive, I really did have an amazing time.
We arrived on the later side the day of check in and getting on to the ship was a relatively smooth and quick process. We had an interior cabin room and it was small, but nice- the bed was very comfortable and it was just two of us. Our cabin steward was great, I wish I remembered his name. One thing here- room service did NOT work for us- my boyfriend tried calling several times over the course of the five days and never got through. Not sure if that was just a thing with our room or what. Not the biggest deal, though.
Apparently the ship is on the smaller side- for someone like me who doesn't really love crowds I found this to be a plus. I never felt crowded or overwhelmed. I don't care that it's an older boat, but again, I have no other cruises to compare it to. My main goal was relaxing and I was able to do that, so no complaints here.
We found a spot we loved and usually made our way there (all the way on the top deck)- the weather was perfect for relaxing outside the entire time. Like many people have mentioned, the pool is small, but it was never PACKED with people, so I really don't think that is an issue. If you want to swim, you'll be able to swim. The two hot tubs by the pool were usually filled, but there were two more at the back of the boat where it was a little quieter and adults only.
Overall I thought the food was really good. The buffets were fine, there was always some sort of food available and more than enough options. The dining room dinners were great- we especially liked the steak! Dinner was fantastic every night, and we had great people at our dinner table, which made it even more awesome! Our waiter, Orlin, was amazing and attentive and made sure everyone was happy. We also really loved Arpy, the magician- find him, he's amazing!
We went to a couple of entertainment/activities, but were more interested in doing our own thing. There seemed to be more than enough activities scheduled though, if that's your thing. The staff all seemed upbeat and fun. Wifi had to be bought and was spotty with it's service- if you don't need it, don't bother. Plus it's really nice to be unplugged for a few days.
We had a great time for our fun day at sea- the weather was great and we just hung out outside, relaxing with a few (delicious) drinks.
Freeport was our first stop. Like everyone else has said, it was pretty wrecked in the hurricane. We took a taxi to a beach- roundtrip it was $14 a person. Not bad, but would add up if you were a family. It was a nice beach- nothing too crazy, but we had a nice time
Half moon Cay was GORGEOUS. Beautiful beach and worth the entire trip, honestly. I have probably never been to a more beautiful spot. They have a little bbq on the island, which is nice. Plenty of beach chairs were set up and there were plenty of things to do there. The sand and water were amazing!
Nassau was great for shopping- there seems to be a lot in walking distance (beaches included), so that's good.
Overall it was a really great time. The people aboard are fun and I think it is what you make it. If you are looking for something really fancy or super new it may not be for you- but if you are looking for a great, affordable trip I think it's really a great choice.
