Review summary
We just returned from the 5-day Grand Cayman/Cozumel cruise. Overall we had a great time. The stateroom was clean, and quiet. The bedding was comfortable. The shower was awful and I was glad to get home to my shower but that is my only complaint about the room. There were plenty of chairs by the pool, etc. no problem. Housekeeping was prompt and our room was usually cleaned by 11 a.m. Watch out that you don't get charged for not returning the towels, as we had an almost-issue at deparkation which Andres at Guest Services promptly resolved. Everything worked in the room although there is only one outlet for phone chargers, etc. The food was mostly excellent. We loved the pizza, vegetarian Indian entrees in Destiny. The lamb shank was very good too. I wish they had Mexican food somewhere, but overall the menus were diverse. the lido food was average although the burgers and some of the prepared salads were delicous. Good wines by the glass, and the best Cosmos I've ever had. We did the Cheers program but I probably won't do it again as I don't think we drank enough to break even. There was plenty to do on the sea days. I won at bingo! my girls loved the waterslide, shows, etc. The PG comedy show was a hit with everyone. Lunch lines were very long, and as there is no sit-down option for lunch, it's a problem. we never did get to try the Mongolian Grill or deli for this reason. Again, the pizza was very good. Grand Cayman was nice. We did the Deluxe StingRay City for Families excursion. they were prompt. it's 15 minutes by bus and then 15 minutes by boat to the sandbar, and great for first-timers. MargaritaVille was loud and expensive, but great burgers and nachos. Cozumel - very nice also. We did the 3 Reef Snorkel and my girls loved it although my youngest was stung by a jellyfish on the third reef. The guides were attentive, professional and knew what to do with spraying vinegar on the sting so she was fine an hour later. and they took great underwater pictures which are around $4 each...well worth it. There are some great deals at the port pharmacy word of warning if you wish to carry on the 1 bottle of wine per adult on embarkation day...it MUST be in your carry on, and not in your checked luggage, or they will confiscate it and you won't get it back. We found this out the hard way. Hopefully the security enjoyed our two bottles of French wine :-) I don't blame Carnival as this was my fault in not carefully reading the policies. I will say Carnival has detailed policies for everything, and t hey really stick to them. This is a good thing, when you're dealing with a ship full of 2,700 people. We can't wait to sail on the Paradise again!Embarkation
