Review summary

The Embarkation process was a bit slow, maybe because we got there early, it took over an hour. Once on the ship we found that the ship was clean and well decorated. Our rooms were fairly good size and the bathroom was surprisingly big with a goodsize shower. Our rooms were all the way in the front (R44 & R46), we were disappointed to find that our dinning was Destiny, this is all the way in the back of the ship which meant a great deal of walking to get to meals. Then we found that you could not go up the elevator and across deck eight, instead you had to go to deck nine walk across and then down to deck eight. The ship seemed somewhat poorly designed. The weather was beautiful with most days around 80 and sunny and we enjoyed the ports there were no problems with getting off the ship or returning. We enjoyed Jamaica the most because we went ashore, five of us, and rented a taxi that took us on a tour of the Island including dropping and picking us up at Dunn`s falls. This tour lasted about four hours and the guy (Basil) only charged us $100.00 for the day. On the third day of our trip my Video Camera was stolen while I was in the casino at about one in the morning when I set it down while gambling. After asking around in the casino to see if it had been turned in, then talking to the head of the casino, I was sent to the information desk. They took a lost and found report, but I knew it had been stolen and I would not get it back. The people at the information desk seemed to not really care about my lost camera with comments of "well people steal." To which I responded that they might want to catch the thief and keep them off the next sailing so they won`t be stealing from their next guests. The people at the information desk did not even notify security of the theft. I told them that they had camera`s in the casino and could review the tapes to see who took my camera and get it back, to which they said they could not review the tapes till the ship returned to port in Miami. I checked with the information desk each day but my camera was never turned in. After my return from the cruise, without the videos I had planned to take of my "once in a lifetime family vacation" that cost me 7000.00 dollars for eight people and a video camera, I was left disappointed. The people at the information desk gave me the number for Carnival Guest relation and I have contacted them. The people at guest relations are about as helpful as the people on the ship. There has been no mention of the tapes being reviewed from the casino or anything being done about my stolen video camera. They just tell me they will do nothing to make any kind of restitution for the loss and I should have had the Carnival Vacation Insurance; this would have cost more, for eight people, than the video camera cost. I`m sure many other bad things happen on these cruise ships that nothing is done about. I hope others will learn from my experience. Carnival funship not so fun? A theft on a cruise ship is not a theft? Too bad it`s gone get over it but come back again!! I have to say the food in the dining room was good and Juan, Garfield, and joseph all treated us very well. The kids(6, 9, and 11) enjoyed camp carnival and never wanted to leave and my two teens 15 and 16 had a good time with the teen activities. Kevin
