Review summary

We had a great time and look forward to our next cruise in just three months!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
No wait for FTTF registration and minimal wait for those without FTTF. Despite a customs inspection on the ship the morning of embarkation, we were still on board by 11:15.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We cruise Carnival regularly and the menus rarely change. They could use a slight revamp but everything we ordered was very good. Love the Melting Cake with a small side of peanut butter! Missed the Blue Iguana Cantina and Guy's Burgers but they will be added with the 2.0 upgrade scheduled for February 2020.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Loved the comedians! We enjoy going to the various trivia sessions and deck parties. Lots to do for all ages. We only went to the Love and Marriage show in the show lounge...always entertaining! We had already seen the large production shows so we passed on them. The Red Frog Pub is a great place to relax and offers several games that small groups can play...foosball, table shuffleboard, Jenga...all fun.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our cabin steward, Henry was so helpful and hard working! He was always around and never failed to have a smile on his face and always greeted us by name. Anastasia with Pixels was awesome, always smiling and friendly. Annie with the Fun Squad was very nice and took the time to talk to our son about his interest in joining the Fun Squad in a year or two. We traveled with a large group and switched our dining companions around each evening, but both head waiters Juan and Christopher were great! Guest services personnel was very helpful each time we needed them.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Loved the design of the ship (almost identical to the Pride) but it is desperately in need of some maintenance and updates. Lots of wear and tear visible but the staff did a great job of keeping it clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our steward did a great job of keeping cabin clean, but the room showed the ship's age and needed some maintenance.

Ship tip

Until the upgrade is done in early 2020, be prepared for some features missing that most other Carnival ships already have.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

Lots to do if you want to extend your trip on either end. We did a beach day before our cruise. We had a late flight home the day we debarked and did a day rate stay at the Airport Marriott which was very convenient for airline check in. We had a room to rest in for the day (and somewhere to park our luggage:) ) and access to the pool and many other hotel amenities.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Beautiful beach. We usually go to the Royal Palms on 7 Mile Beach but decided to go to Calico Jacks this time. It was very crowded. We will probably go back to Royal Palms next time.

Disembarkation

Very quick and efficient. Off the ship and at the airport by 8:45.
