Review summary

This cruise to North Queensland and the Barrier Reef is just a nice length (7 days) and very popular with families and schoolies at this time of year. Our weather was perfect with good shore days and calm seas.

Embarkation

Having Priority boarding plus some mobility assistance was helpful, especially with the long queue going through security. Always a long walk at Brisbane but Carnival staff are very helpful.

We found the menu options quite adequate in the main Vela Dining room - a beautiful venue, and the buffet in the Lido Marketplace good also. Did not try the Specialty restaurants this time.

The seven key singers and dancers for the production shows were amazing! Very creative and great choreography!

I love the design and layout of Carnival Luminosa. Plenty of lounge-seating areas and wide unobstructed walkways! Public areas were always clean. An abundance of deck chairs. Large theatre with easy walking access.

Spacious and comfortable stateroom with a large balcony. Lovely soft bed and pillows!

Ship tip

If you don’t mind walking a distance aft to the dining room or buffet, a forward cabin that uses the front set of elevators which are less busy is a better location
