Review summary

Decent cruise, good value. Not my favorite Carnival ship, but still a good little vacation. Diamonds steakhouse is is a larger venue than other ships and therefore had more availability. Not a fan of their Serenity deck due to not having a pool. Visit the BBQ for a quiet lunch without a line. I don’t think anyone knows it’s there.

Embarkation

Major fail on this. This was our first B2B. The ship was hours late arriving in port from our first cruise. We only booked this as a B2B because we missed our side by side cruise. We were unable to book it on the ship through the ship. My travel agent couldn’t help because I was booking it same day. I had to spend hours on the phone with Carnival to book the cruise. When I finally got it booked we were given instructions to meet in the theater for B2B disembark/embark. Nobody seemed to know what we were doing or where to go. After almost an hour of waiting we were walked off and walked back on and new key cards issued. Of course ours didn’t work and then I got stuck in line at guest services. It took two more times of going through guest services before our cards finally worked.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Since we did specialty dining on our first cruise we stuck with the MDR on this cruise. The waitstaff is always amazing. We did anytime dining and by dumb luck missed “it’s showtime” every night. I did splurge at the sea day brunch and ordered the lobster Benedict ($19) because my lobster at Diamonds was so good the night before. This was a mistake and worth the extra charge. The lobster wasn’t as good and my boyfriend ordered from the regular menu and his entree arrived at least 10 min before mine. This seems to be a problem is someone in the party orders an up charged item. On our last cruise I ordered the shrimp and grits ($6 and worth every penny of the extra charge) and it came out 10 min after his entree arrived. Carnival really needs to get better about having entrees arrive at the same time. Honestly I won’t splurge on the signature items anymore because they take so much longer and then my boyfriends food gets cold because he refuses to eat his food until mine comes.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment at the lido pool deck was lacking compared to other cruises. Boring pool deck on this ship IMO.

We always enjoy Flick!

Service and Staff

Manny, our room Steward was extremely friendly and efficient. He was AMAZING! Since we were on a B2B a lot of the bar staff recognized us from the first cruise which was really nice. They went out of their was to take care of us and say hello even when they weren’t serving us. “Terry and Erin, you’re back!” “Terry and Erin, you’re still here!”

Cabin / Stateroom

My only complaint about this cabin is that it was missing the set of curtains closest to the window which let too much light in and made it hard for me to sleep.

Ship tip

Make a reservation at Diamonds steakhouse!
