Review summary

The cruise was outstanding and I had a fantastic time. What I learned is four night cruises are simply not long enough and I need to book for an extra night or two. Time goes even faster when on a cruise ship. I was on the Royal Caribbean adventure of the seas last month. There are differences in the ships but both are outstanding. Carnival wins on entertainment, the alchemy bar, guys burger, seafood shack and overall customer service.

Food was a 3 and drinks was a 5. Befriended the Alchemy Bar Staff and after discussing my love of straight bourbon a fresh bottle of Blanton’s appeared. I pre-paid gratuities but by rewarding outstanding Service additional tips I got a freshly open bottle of Blantons. The steakhouse was so bad I have canceled the steakhouse on my upcoming for Carnival cruises. The shrimp was covered with green goo and was chewy. My medium fillet was served well and it was dry. The picture on the Carnival website shows 2 lobster tails but you only get one. Regrettably this too was overcooked and chewy to the point of wanting to spit it out and give up. The cheesecake was neither New York or cream cheese and after the second bite I gave up as it was an inedible. Other than the pizza, Seafood Shack and Guys Burgers nothing was served hot. The buffet selection seemed limited and what was always cold to room temperature. The main dining room had some good food but again it was room temperature to barely warm. The worst was the Mack and cheese served in the barbecue restaurant. I know sterno‘s are not allowed with the open flame but they could have an electric element to keep it warm. It tasted like it was made with cold water and never heated. Nevertheless I had more Blantons and didn’t really care!!

Last month I was on Royal Caribbean and had the key program. You need the key on Royal. However on Carnival it went so smooth I followed instructions and essentially walked off the boat. Very smooth.

I agree 4 days us probably to short but I got the cruise for free so I can't complain. Thanks for the heads up on the food.

My biggest compliant anout dining room food is the temperature. By the the time it gets to the table it's lukewarm. And goes to cold fast.

Appreciate your feedback. Agree completely that was not enough time. We have started going on B2B cruises (14 days worth) because the time goes so quickly.😳. Glad you enjoyed your cruise!
