Review summary

Another great cruise experience with Carnival. Again we really enjoyed our cruise on the Freedom and we are looking forward to our first Carnival repeat cruise on the Magic in April/May of 2023. Cruising is great! πŸ˜ŽπŸš’β˜€οΈπŸ©΄πŸπŸͺΈπŸ πŸŒΊπŸ™πŸ»

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had a 10:00am check in time and we arrived at 9:45am and were checked in and seated by 9:54am. Very smooth process. We did wait a while to actually board but it was air conditioned and comfortable. We entered the Carnival Freedom at 11:19am.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We only went to the MDR for breakfast but it was a great relaxing atmosphere and we enjoyed a good breakfast to start our day. We absolutely enjoyed all of our many meals at Guy’s Burgers. It never disappoints. We found many good meal options to enjoy at the buffet. We enjoyed many of the dessert choices at the β€œSweet Spot”. We thoroughly spoiled ourselves with the 24 hour ice cream. We drank the buffet coffee and lemonade much of the time and water along with the few can Cokes that we brought.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did not partake in any of the activities on board but enjoyed watching others who did.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed the first night show in the main theater. We also enjoyed the 80’s Pop to the Max show along with the along with the 88 Keys Rock & Roll piano show and with a great Tropical themed show on the last night. The Freedom Rock band played some great music in the atrium that we also enjoyed.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward, Rabbi, took car of all our needs and requests. Our room was always clean and we looked forward to seeing our daily towel animal. Our cruise director, James Love, did a fantastic job of keeping things orderly and filled with great fun and laughter.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We looked back at our previous Carnival cruises and realized that we have been on a different ship for each cruise. We liked the Freedom and it’s Halloween themed decorations. Everyone that we encountered on the staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. They were also very patient with some cruisers that were not patient. The Freedom staff were constantly cleaning and wiping down areas of the ship. There were many hand sanitizer stations throughout the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin seemed a little smaller than our similar cabin on the Magic but it was fine for the two of us. Everything worked flawlessly and we really enjoyed the quiet location. This was the very first time that we had to turn down the air conditioning because it worked so well.

Ship tip

We are always positive, patient, polite, respectful and kind to the cruisers and staff that we encounter and it has made ALL of our cruise memories very enjoyable. When we went to the clamshell area of the Serenity section we thought that others had already placed towels in them to reserve them but we discovered that the staff had placed them there for all cruisers so we were able to enjoy that area very much.

Ports of call

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
We went to the right side of the island where it was quieter and not as crowded, There was a lot of seaweed on the beach but not in the water. It was more rocky than some beaches with more waves due to the winds but we brought our water shoes and we able to enjoy getting in the water. It was too wavy to use our floats on that day but would be great when the water is calmer. The music being played didn’t fit the tropical area and the buffet was closed on the right side so we walked over to the left side to enjoy the buffet lunch and explore some and take pictures before returning to the ship.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Getting off of the Freedom took longer than our experience on the Magic back in May. It seemed to take longer for the premium level and handicapped cruisers to disembark but once they were off and our debarkation letter was called our actual time that it took from then was very quick and went smoothly.
